DIFFICULTY
The Paloma is Mexico’s true national cocktail — brighter, more refreshing, and a touch more grown-up than the Margarita. Grapefruit soda does all the heavy lifting, so your tequila gets to shine.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 oz silver or reposado tequila
- 0.5 oz fresh lime juice
- 4 oz grapefruit soda (Squirt, Jarritos, or Fresca)
- Pinch of kosher salt
- Kosher salt for the rim (optional)
- Grapefruit or lime wedge for garnish
- Ice
HOW WE MAKE IT
Salt the rim of a highball or collins glass (optional).
Fill with ice.
Add tequila, lime juice, and a pinch of salt.
Top with grapefruit soda and stir gently.

MAKE IT YOUR OWN
We can make a fresh-pressed Paloma with ruby grapefruit juice and soda water instead of bottled grapefruit soda — a more upscale, less-sweet version perfect for cocktail hours.
Bartender's Secret
Pro tip: A pinch of salt in the drink (not just the rim) makes the grapefruit flavor pop. Try it — you’ll taste the difference immediately.
